I’m a retired attorney and former military officer, and Suzy, my wife, is a retired realtor. Our idea of retirement involves less rocking chairs and more rocking the boat of adventure. It all began when I hung up my suits and uniforms for good, bidding adieu to the confines of the Pentagon. Suzy, always the go-getter, had long since closed the chapter on her real estate days, ready for a new chapter filled with excitement and exploration.
With decades of service behind me, both in the military and the civilian world, I’d grown accustomed to traveling – but always with a mission, always with a purpose. Now, it was time to trade duty for delight, to swap the confines of office walls for the vast expanse of open road. And so, armed with a sense of wanderlust and a thirst for the unknown, we embarked on a journey unlike any other. Selling off our possessions in 2022 was liberating – a clean break from the trappings of materialism, a declaration of our commitment to the pursuit of experiences over things.
In July of 2022, we bought a new Roadtrek camper/van which became our chariot, our home away from home, as we crisscrossed the United States, soaking in the sights, sounds, and flavors of every corner of this vast land. But it was our pilgrimage along the Camino that truly ignited our passion for global exploration. Walking those ancient paths, feeling the earth beneath our feet and the weight of centuries of history on our shoulders, we discovered a newfound sense of freedom and connection to the world around us. It was a revelation, a catalyst for our grandest adventure yet: to travel to every country on this beautiful blue planet.
So here we are, two retirees with a thirst for adventure and a hunger for the unknown, charting our course one passport stamp at a time. From bustling cities to remote villages, from towering mountains to sandy shores, we’re on a mission to experience it all – together. Who are we, you ask? We’re just two ordinary people, daring to live an extraordinary life, one journey at a time. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
